Never stop learning!

I occasionally get questions from other photographers asking “How did you do that?”, “What would you do if…?”, and many other things. I actually think there are people who don’t ask questions because they’re afraid it makes them seem stupid or knowledgeable.  That couldn’t be further from the truth.

I don’t care how talented or knowledgeable you are on a subject, when you feel like there is nothing left to learn…well, that’s when you’ve got the most to learn.

Creative Live is something that I have been fascinated with since it’s inception.

One of my biggest photography crushes is on Chase Jarvis (He’s sooooo dreamy…ummm, wait…non threatening/stalkerish photography dreamy). What draws me in to following his career so closely isn’t his uber success, talent, or his work. All three of those things are impressive and top notch, but for me it his attitude and openness to help the photography community.  Chase has a fabulous YouTube series called Chase Jarvis Live that sees him sitting down with industry leaders or fascinating people from other disciplines of art. Their very insightful and enjoyable on nearly every level.

Wanting to do more, he launched Creative Live.

Creative Live is a website that has very in depth online classes with people that are at the top of their field. The most impressive part is that it is FREE. Yeah, you read that right. FREE!

Last year I watched Jasmine Star shoot an actual wedding over the course of 3 days for free. I sat through a few days with Zack Arias and learned lighting. Thinking out of the box with Jeremy Cowart.  I could go on and on.

The only real catch is the timing. It’s difficult to set aside time to watch these things as they happen live, as so many of the classes are long and intense. The good news is that if you miss part, can’t make it, or just want them for future watching, they can be purchased at fairly reasonable prices.

They’re much more than a site for photographers as well. They have classes on graphic design, web design, painting, etc.
